Rumus End User Terms

1. Introduction
These End User Terms ("Terms") govern your use of Rumus ("the Software"), a cross-platform terminal application provided by Rumus ("we", "us", "our", "the Company"). By downloading, installing, or using the Software, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. License Grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Software for personal or internal business purposes.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the Software
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
- Use the Software for any unlawful purpose
- Sublicense, sell, resell, or lease the Software
3. Intellectual Property
The Software and all related materials are proprietary and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved.
4. Data Collection and Privacy
We are committed to protecting your privacy. The Software collects certain data to improve functionality and user experience. All data collection is optional and can be disabled in Settings.
4.1 Telemetry Data
When telemetry is enabled, we collect anonymous usage statistics including:
- Application launch and close events
- Terminal session creation and closure (local and SSH)
- Workspace open events
- Theme and language changes
- Application version and platform (OS)
4.2 Crash Reports
When crash reporting is enabled, we collect diagnostic data when errors occur, including:
- Error names and sanitized error messages
- Stack traces for diagnostic purposes
All crash data is sanitized to remove:
- File paths
- IP addresses
- Hostnames
- Personal identifiable information
4.3 AI Services and Output
The Software may provide AI-powered features that generate code, suggestions, or other content ("AI Output").
AI Output Disclaimer:
AI Output is provided "as is" without any warranties or guarantees of functionality, security, or fitness for a particular purpose. While efforts are made to ensure accuracy and reliability, AI Output may include errors, vulnerabilities, and defects. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating AI Output before use in any production or critical environment. We assume no liability for any damages, losses, or liability arising from the use, modification, reliance on, or deployment of AI Output. Any such use is at your own risk.
4.4 Settings Sync Data
If you are a Pro/Max subscriber and enable settings sync, your data will be synchronized to our servers, including:
- Application preferences and appearance settings
- Privacy settings
- Vault data (hosts, SSH keys, credentials, snippets, etc.)
Important: All vault data containing sensitive information (such as SSH private keys, passwords, and host configurations) is end-to-end encrypted before being transmitted and stored on our servers. We cannot access or decrypt this data. Only you, with your encryption key, can decrypt and access this information.
Data Loss Disclaimer: We are not responsible for any data loss, corruption, or inability to recover data, whether caused by software defects, synchronization issues, encryption key loss, or any other reason. You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your important data.
4.5 What We Do NOT Collect
Regardless of your privacy settings, we explicitly do not collect:
- Terminal command contents or output
- File contents or file paths
- Any personally identifiable information
- Unencrypted credentials, SSH keys, or host information (when sync is enabled, this data is transmitted only in encrypted form)
4.6 Your Control
You can disable any or all data collection at any time through Settings > Privacy. Your choices will be respected immediately.
5. Third-Party Services
The Software may integrate with third-party services (such as AI providers). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
Rumus is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any AI model provider (including but not limited to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other provider). The Software provides a custom interface for interacting with underlying AI models through their respective APIs. All AI model names, trademarks, and brands mentioned within the Software are the property of their respective owners.
6. Fees and Payment
6.1 Subscription Plans
The Software may offer free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans ("Pro", "Max", or other tiers) provide access to additional features and services. The specific features, pricing, and terms of each plan are described on our official website or within the Software.
6.2 Billing and Payment
- Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your selected plan).
- You agree to provide accurate and complete payment information and authorize us to charge your selected payment method.
- All fees are stated exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or government levies.
6.3 Price Changes
We reserve the right to modify pricing at any time. Price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. We will provide reasonable notice of any price increases.
6.4 Refunds
Our refund policy varies by subscription plan:
- Pro Plan: We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your Pro subscription, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase by contacting our support team.
- Max Plan: Due to the included AI model usage credits, Max subscriptions are non-refundable once any AI credits have been used. If you have not used any AI credits, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase.
After the applicable refund period, no refunds will be provided for subscription fees, partial subscription periods, or unused features. Refund requests can be made by contacting our support team at support@rumus.ai.
6.5 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Software settings or your account page. Upon cancellation, your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period, after which it will not renew and you will lose access to paid features.
6.6 Account Suspension
We may suspend or terminate your access to paid features if payment fails or is declined. We will attempt to notify you before suspension and provide a reasonable opportunity to update your payment information.
7. Account Security
If you create an account to use the Software:
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You must not share your account or API keys with others or expose them in client-side code.
- You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we believe have been compromised.
8. Acceptable Use Policy
8.1 General Conduct
You agree to use the Software in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and these Terms. You must not use the Software in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our services or interfere with any other party's use of the Software.
8.2 Prohibited Activities
You must not use the Software to:
Security and Infrastructure:
- Compromise or threaten critical infrastructure or network security
- Gain unauthorized access to networks, systems, or data
- Distribute malware, viruses, or other malicious code
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code or algorithms
Illegal and Harmful Activities:
- Engage in any illegal activities or violate any applicable laws
- Facilitate fraud, scams, or deceptive practices
- Promote violence, terrorism, or hatred against individuals or groups
- Create or distribute content that exploits or endangers children
Privacy and Rights Violations:
- Collect, process, or disclose personal information without proper authorization
- Infringe upon intellectual property rights of others
- Harass, bully, stalk, or intimidate others
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
Misuse of AI Features:
- Generate or distribute false, misleading, or deceptive information
- Falsely claim that AI-generated content is human-created
- Use AI features to make high-risk automated decisions affecting individuals' safety, rights, or well-being without appropriate human oversight
- Use AI features as a substitute for professional services (legal, medical, financial, etc.)
8.3 Reporting Violations
If you discover any security vulnerabilities, defects, or violations of these Terms, please report them through our official channels. You must not publicly disclose security vulnerabilities without our prior consent.
9. User Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- All data you create, transmit, or store using the Software
- Maintaining the security of your connections and credentials
- Ensuring your use complies with applicable laws and regulations
- Any consequences resulting from commands executed through the Software
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Software will meet your requirements
- The Software will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Any defects will be corrected
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Software.
Except in the cases of (i) breach of confidentiality obligations under these Terms, or (ii) breach of either party's intellectual property rights, in no event shall either party's liability for damages under these Terms exceed the amounts actually paid by you (or in the case of your liability, paid plus owed but unpaid) to us under these Terms in the twelve (12) months preceding any claim made hereunder.
In the case of our breach of indemnification obligations under these Terms, in no event shall our liability for damages under these Terms exceed two times (2x) the aggregate amounts actually paid by you to us under these Terms.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the developers of Rumus from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Software or violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your license to use the Software at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and destroy all copies in your possession.
14. Updates and Modifications
We may update or modify the Software and these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
15. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, earthquakes, epidemics or pandemics, network infrastructure failures, power outages, strikes, or failures of third-party services or providers.
16. Export Control and Compliance
You understand that your use of the Software may be subject to export control and sanctions laws of various jurisdictions. You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws and regulations.
You represent and warrant that:
- You are not located in, or a resident or national of, any country subject to comprehensive sanctions.
- You are not on any restricted party list under applicable export control and sanctions laws.
- You will not use the Software for any end use prohibited by applicable laws.
- You will not export, re-export, or transfer the Software in violation of any applicable laws.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
18. Dispute Resolution
18.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute resolution proceeding, you agree to first contact us through our official channels to attempt to resolve any dispute informally. We will attempt to resolve the dispute through good-faith negotiations.
18.2 Jurisdiction
Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Software that cannot be resolved through informal negotiation shall be resolved through the courts of competent jurisdiction.
18.3 Class Action Waiver
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Software and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
