Rumus’s UI is translated into several languages. Pick one in Settings → Appearance → Display Language, and the change applies immediately — no restart needed.

Supported languages

OptionNotes
System DefaultTracks your OS’s language setting
EnglishThe source language
简体中文Simplified Chinese
繁體中文Traditional Chinese
日本語Japanese
한국어Korean
EspañolSpanish
If your system language isn’t on the list, System Default falls back to English.

What gets translated

The display language affects:
  • Settings UI — every page, every label.
  • Menus — the title bar, context menus, and dialogs.
  • Notifications — toast messages and confirmation prompts.
  • Onboarding text — for users still going through first-launch (where applicable).
  • AI sidebar UI — the labels around the chat, but not the AI’s replies. The agent responds in whatever language you wrote in.

What doesn’t change

  • Your terminal outputls, git, and friends speak whatever language they’re configured to. That’s a shell / locale setting, not a Rumus one.
  • AI conversation contents — the agent matches your input language. A Chinese prompt gets a Chinese reply; a Japanese prompt gets a Japanese reply.
  • AI auto-named conversation titles — also generated in the language of your message, regardless of UI language.

Settings sync

Display language is part of config sync. Switching language on one device propagates to your others on the next sync.

Tips

  • Switching is instant. Try a language for a few minutes — if it doesn’t fit, switch back.
  • System Default is convenient on multi-language machines. If you regularly switch your OS language, having Rumus follow saves a manual step each time.
  • Translation gaps are real. Some recently-added strings might not be translated yet in every language; English usually shows through where translation is missing.

Help us translate

The Rumus UI is translated by the community as well as the team. If you spot a translation that reads oddly, reach out via the community — fixes go into the next release.

Pair your language with the right window theme.

Keyboard shortcuts

Some shortcut labels read differently in different languages — rebinding works the same.
